Five Excuses for Missing a Session and How We Respond

We understand that life gets in the way. We understand it so well that we have written a response to every excuse in advance, and Nurse Wobbles keeps them laminated under the desk. Here are the five we hear most often.

Excuse one: “I was asleep”

This is the most honest excuse and therefore the most irritating. Our response is a letter reading “So were we.” It is a short letter. Nurse Wobbles signs it with a paw print, which is not legally binding but does leave a mark.

Excuse two: “The carrier did not fit”

Clients report that on the morning of the appointment the carrier has become smaller, or the client has become larger, or the carrier has gained some kind of personality. Our response is a free referral to a larger carrier, which the client will also refuse to enter.

Excuse three: “It was raining”

We offer indoor sessions, outdoor sessions, and a special window session in which the client watches the rain from inside and the counsellor watches the client watching it. This is billed as a full hour, and is probably our best value offering.

Excuse four: “I forgot”

We recommend a gentle reminder system, which consists of Gerald, our mascot, sitting on your face at 6 AM on the day of your appointment. He cannot say what time it is. He can only say that it is time.

Excuse five: “I was working through some things”

We respect this one deeply, because it is nearly always a box. Clients tell us they were working through a box, a bag, or a laundry basket, and that the work took longer than expected. We do not charge for a missed session in this case. We do ask for photographs.

Our policy

Cancellations must be made at least twenty four hours in advance. If you fail to do so, you will be billed one full session, plus a small administrative fee payable in treats. We accept dried fish, chicken, and in rare cases an apology.

Remember that Pawsitive is fictional, our counsellors are cats, and none of this is professional advice. If you actually need help, a human professional will be more useful than anything printed here.
